Student Wellness & Support Services Provided
The following services are provided through MCUSD Health Services in support of student wellness, health access, safety, attendance, and academic success in alignment with California Department of Education (CDE) Wellness Plan expectations.
Preventive & Routine Health Services
- Vision screenings
- Hearing screenings
- Oral health assessment coordination
- Immunization compliance review and follow-up
- Communicable disease monitoring and prevention
- Health office assessments and first aid services
- Medication administration and monitoring during the school day
- Emergency illness and injury response
- Health condition monitoring for students with chronic medical needs
Chronic Health Condition Management
- Individualized Health Care Plans (IHPs)
- Emergency Action Plans (EAPs)
- Diabetes care support
- Seizure disorder management
- Asthma management and rescue medication support
- Allergy and anaphylaxis response planning
- Medical accommodations in collaboration with Section 504 and IEP teams
- Physician order coordination and medical documentation review
Student Wellness & Mental Health Support
- Student wellness check-ins and support
- Crisis response collaboration with school administration and counseling teams
- Suicide risk protocol support
- Community resource connection for students and families
- Behavioral health coordination with school counseling teams and county and outside agencies
Attendance & Educational Access Support
- Home and Hospital Instruction (HHI) coordination
- Chronic illness verification coordination
- Attendance-related medical support and consultation
- Return-to-school planning following illness, injury, hospitalization, or surgery
- Medical accommodation consultation for academic access
Family & Community Collaboration
- Parent/guardian communication and health education
- Coordination with medical providers and specialists
- Release of Information (ROI) management for continuity of care
- Collaboration with Mariposa County Health Department and community agencies
- Referral coordination for medical, dental, vision, and behavioral health services
Health Education & Staff Training
- Staff health and safety consultation
- First aid/CPR/AED coordination and compliance support
SB 88 First Aid training support
- Classroom health guidance and student-specific accommodations
- Emergency preparedness collaboration
- Health-related staff trainings and resources
School Safety & Public Health Services
- Communicable disease outbreak response and reporting
- Lice exposure management and prevention guidance
- Public health notifications and coordination
- Campus emergency response participation when warranted
- Field trip medical review and support
- Student medical emergency planning
Wellness Initiatives & Expanded Access
- Coordination of school-based wellness initiatives
- Mobile health clinic planning and partnership development (in process)
- Vision, hearing, oral health, and wellness outreach events
- Support for whole-child wellness programs and healthy school environments
- Coordination of health-related grants and community partnerships (mobile unit)
